Metamorphosis

So this happened overnight.
I took the first pic through the window.

I've been keeping an eye on this for a few days. You can see the chrysalis attached to the corner of the front porch. It's just below the recently emerged butterfly. I was glad I took this through the window because when I went out on the porch to take a pic, the little bugger released and fell to the mulched bed below.

There is a second chrysalis on the porch that is also empty this morning.
Fortunately, we have plenty of nearby flowers for these new creatures to get their life strengthening nectar.
Ain't nature grand?
